    Purchasing My Book: Some Details

    Hello Readers,

Joe Jesseph died October 18th 2008.  I am his daughter and in the process of taking care of his affairs.  I will leave this post about his book for now because he was very excited about it, but the rest of the blog will go away.  Joe can not reply to anything you might write or ask or post.  If you read his blog and gained from it, that is a blessing.  If you care to know more about Joe and The Course in Miracles, then buy his book, and discuss it with others.

    Make it a good day.

    Sincerely,

    Joe's daughter

Although the list price for my book is $21.95, you can buy it for around $15 on Amazon.com as well as BarnesandNoble.com. If you decide to buy the download eBook version, be aware that you cannot print it out. It tells you that on the Web site, but someone just wrote me that they did not see that notice and had hoped to print out the download version.

My Book is Now Available -- BUT WAIT!

Today I received word from Outskirts Press that my book has been published. There is a Web site which describes the book and where it can be ordered from Amazon.com (not yet available at Barnes and Noble, but should be soon). It can also be downloaded in the form of an e-Book. The Web site address for my book is: http://outskirtspress.com/joejesseph

HOWEVER, the publisher has advised that it would be best for me to examine the free hard copy they will send before I myself purchase any more copies, so it would be best for others to wait until I've had a chance to approve the final product. I'm sure there will be some minor editorial kinds of errors in the book, although I've been through it several times. Outskirts Press does a quality check before publication as well. Still, while I'm willing to live with a few minor errors, I might catch something significant that needs changing when I finally examine the hard copy, and that will not be for another week or two.

(A note about the e-Book: it is in Adobe Acrobat format which includes a search function to make referencing easy. That search function will find either a specific page or designated words and phrases. If you use the book's Index, in order to find a specific page in the Adobe version you have to add 20 to the page number found in the Index in order to arrive at the correct page. That's because Adobe counts all pages, including the twenty which are not designated in Arabic numerals. So, if the Index refers you to page 148, you can either scroll up to that page, or you can search for page 168 using the Adobe search box in the tool bar at the top. It would then look like this: 168/356, with the number 168 being entered in the page search box. Of course, searching for words and phrases is easy with Adobe: just enter the word or phrase in the box designated "Find.")

Caveat Emptor! (Let the buyer beware.)

Eventually there could be a second edition, depending upon my own re-reading as well as feedback from readers who may have suggestions.

Of course I'm happy that the book has reached this stage and I plan to celebrate later today.

  • Latest information from my publisher

After posting the article about What is the What, I received the following email from my publisher:

Just wanted to let you know that your files were uploaded to printing on April 30th. It will be about another week to week-and-a-half until you receive your publication announcement and then 8-10 days after that before you receive your author's copies. Please keep in mind that these are not exact dates.

That sounds like it will be June before anyone other than myself can obtain a copy of the book. Interestingly, it's going to be almost two years from the time I completed the manuscript to the time of publication.

As a reminder, and for the information of anyone new to this blog, various chapters and excerpts from the book have been posted here. They can be found by doing a search on the key word "psychology" using the TAGS link which appears in the left hand column.

  • Update on my book

Several people have written me asking about when and whether my book will ever be published. I won't go into all the details except to say that major problems have been encountered in getting the book's index properly formatted and keeping it accurate with regard to page references as the book format has evolved in preparation for printing. I've been very careful with the index because I regard it as one of the potentially most helpful features of the book since, as it turned out, the book is not only an introduction to the psychology of the Course but a fairly comprehensive introduction, overview and summary of the entire ACIM thought system. After all, the system of psychology implicit in the Course cannot really be separated out from its metaphysics and overall message.

Anyway, I have finally approved of the latest draft and it is now going forward to be printed. Here's what the publisher's representative wrote to me this morning:

Thank you for approving the latest proof.

After we finalize things on our end we will upload your files to printing.

I will let you know when I can give you a definitive time line....

Please keep in mind when ordering, that there are 2 time constraints- print time and ship time.

Regular print time is: 5-10 days.

Rush print time: 4 days (add 20% to the price).

Normal Ship time: UPS ground (approx 3-5 days).

Second day shipping and overnight shipping are available options that will be billed extra.

There will be a Web site set up by Outskirts Press where the book can be obtained and it is likely that it will be available through Amazon and other bookstores. Also, for those who attend classes at the Foundation for A Course in Miracles, the book will be available there as well. However, it will not be available through the Foundation's catalog, either on line or as printed in hard copy.

I will post additional information here as I am updated by the publisher.
